Avalon is situated on the Peninsula between Whale Beach to the north and Newport Beach to the south.  Avalon is home to a few remaining koalas that once roamed Pittwater.  Avalon Beach is one of Sydney's most superb beaches for swimming, surfing, windsurfing and fishing.  A rock swimming pool is located at the southern end of the beach and a shady park area provides picnic and barbeque facilities for families.
